Emerging Technologies and the Chemical Sciences

Join us for a unique regional meeting that brings together the American Chemical Society with the Materials Research Society, the Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science, the IEEC CPMT Society and many other organizations to create an exciting program highlighting emerging technologies and the chemical sciences. This meeting will be an ideal forum to showcase the high concentration of academic and industrial research in upstate New York and New England. Technical sessions will run from 8:30 AM on Thursday morning until noon on Saturday. The technical sessions, poster sessions and exhibitors will be featured prominently at the Binghamton Regency and the Holiday Inn Arena.

Along with traditional chemistry sessions and an undergraduate poster session, additional symposia will cover topics such as:

  • Organic and Flexible Electronics
  • Sensors and Small Scale Systems
  • Lithography
  • Atmospheric and Aquatic Chemistry
  • Nanostructured Materials
  • Electronics Packaging

NERM 2006 will host a special meeting for National Chemistry Week coordinators, student affiliates and volunteers. The workshop will take place Saturday morning, October 7th and will follow a complimentary breakfast buffet. Please click HERE for more information.

Undergraduates! NERM 2006 is offering something special for you! Highlights of undergraduate programming include a professional luncheon, poster session and panel discussions. Please click here for more information. Undergraduates may also be interested in MAALACT 2006, the Middle Atlantic Association of Liberal Arts Chemistry Teachers sponsored meeting which will be held in Ithaca New York this year. Friday October 6th will feature presentations running 20-30 minutes from area and regional educators on a variety of topics. These topics are expected to include POGUL, NCW, demonstrations, technology and general science inquiry. This will be great for the local teacher in-service scheduled for the same day! The technical sessions page will be updated frequently as details develop. We look forward to seeing you!

NERM 2006 is honored to announce that Professor Tobin Marks will be presenting a keynote lecture at our meeting entitled:

New Materials and Processes for Organic Transistors, Inorganic Transistors, and Printed Electronics

His lecture will address challenges in rationally assembling individual molecules into organized supramolecular structures with nanoscale-level control. Approaches to these challenges will be discussed with the ultimate goal of the ability to fabricate organic electronic circuits by printing techniques. We hope you will join us for this informative event!

The green mountain local section is hosting NERM 2008 in Burlington,    Vermont. NERM will not be held in 2007 as a result of the national ACS meeting being held in Boston during August of that year. Please plan on supporting NERM 2008! Check them out at www.nerm2008.org
